Trimesters 1, 2, and 3:
Course Description:
Kindergarten music classes sing, dance, march, play rhythm instruments, sing solfege with the Kodaly hand signals, listen and move to various styles of music, create and color to music. The students learn songs and dances about nature, seasons, holidays, and cultures. Students also participate in music games and interactive songs to reinforce musical concepts learned. Kindergarten students will perform in a combined K-2 spring concert

Course Description:
Grade 1 Music Classes sing, dance, march, play rhythm instruments, solfege, listen and move to music. Students sing songs in unison in addition to singing rounds, which prepare the young singer for the next step of singing in harmony. All music classes learn the elements of music through songs and folk dances of the USA and other cultures, patriotic, seasonal, and nature songs, and participate in interactive song games. Students listen to a variety of vocal and instrumental music, perform, display concert etiquette, and learn about instruments and composers, and color to music.

Trimesters 1, 2, and 3:
The focus of Grade 2 Music Class is a hands-on approach to reading music and performing through playing the violin. The students learn the value of whole, half, quarter, and eighth notes along with their equivalent rests. Throughout the school year, the students will learn notes on the A and D strings which will blend into pleasing little ditties. Students also sing, dance, listen to various styles of music, and color to music. We sing songs in unison in addition to singing rounds, which prepare the young singer for the next step of singing in harmony. All music classes learn the elements of music through songs and folk dances of the USA and other cultures, patriotic, seasonal, and nature songs, and participate in interactive song games. Students listen to a variety of vocal and instrumental music, perform, display concert etiquette, and learn about instruments and composers, and color to music.

Trimesters 1, 2, and 3:
Course Description:
Grade three Music Classes sing a variety of songs in unison, in rounds, and in the form of partner songs, which are all stepping-stones to singing in harmony. All music classes learn the elements of music through songs and folk dances of the USA and other cultures, patriotic, seasonal, and nature songs, and participate in interactive song games. Students also learn about instruments and composers and display concert etiquette. In order to continue music-reading skills from grade two class violin, a hands-on is incorporated in grade three music class by learning to play the Tin Whistle. Grade three may continue instruction on violin, or switch to viola, or cello plus play in the grade 3-4 string orchestra. Instrumental lessons are offered during non-instructional time.

Course Description:
Grade 4 Music Classes sing a variety of songs in unison, in rounds, and in the form of partner songs, which are all stepping-stones to singing in harmony. All music classes learn the elements of music through patriotic, multi-cultural, and seasonal songs and dances. Students also listen to a variety of vocal and instrumental music, perform, learn about instruments and composers, and display concert etiquette. Students may continue instruction on violin, viola, or cello plus add a band instrument. Instrumental lessons are offered during non-instructional time. For a challenge, string students may join the Swallowtail Fiddlers who provide community service.
